Celebrate National Otter Day with Us!
Join us for a week-long celebration of all things otter from May 24th to June 2nd, culminating in National Otter Day on Wednesday, May 28th! We have a fantastic lineup of activities planned for otter enthusiasts of all ages.
Spot the Otter Hunt
Kick off your otter adventure on May 24th with our exciting “Spot the Otter” hunt around the park!
Daily Otter Talks
Join us each day for fascinating talks about otters! Learn about the unique characteristics and behaviors of different otter species, including the playful Asian short-clawed otter and the robust Scottish sea otter. Did you know that Asian short-clawed otters are the smallest otter species and are known for their dexterous paws, which they use to crack open shellfish? In contrast, Scottish sea otters have thick fur that keeps them warm in chilly waters and are skilled divers, often seen floating on their backs while cracking open their favorite prey—sea urchins!
Otter Photography Competition
Do you have a knack for capturing the beauty of otters? Enter our Otter Photography Competition! We welcome photos of any otter species—whether from your local park, a wildlife reserve, or even your own backyard—as long as it raises awareness about these amazing animals. The lucky winner will receive an unforgettable otter experience! All entries must be submitted by June 2nd.
Share your photo as a comment in our Otter Competition Post on Facebook.
Otter Pond Clearance
Help us keep our otter habitats in pristine condition! On National Otter Day, Wednesday, May 28th, at 11:00 AM, we are organizing an otter pond clearance and need four enthusiastic volunteers to join us. If you’re available to lend a helping hand, simply send us an an email to hello@auchjngarrichwildlifepark.co.uk
Wellies are essential. Waders would be better.
