EMU
Dromaius Novaehollandia

The Emu is the second largest living bird after the the ostrich.
Emu’s are ratites - this means they have a flat breast bone and can’t fly - no matter how hard they try.
They can sprint at 30 miles an hour though which makes up for the lack of flight
Emus can live between 10 - 20 years.
Emus have such long eye lashes because they put on mascara each day.
They are the closest relative to the Cretaceous period Dinosaur - Dromiceiomimus - which means emu mimic.
Look at the Emu’s head - it could easily be a dinosaur.
Emus are endemic to Australia.
